Yang (Cindy) Yi, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech and the Director of the BRain-Inspired Computing, Communications, and Security Lab (BRICCS @VT). She also holds roles as a Bradley Senior Faculty Fellow, MICRON & TEL UPWARDS Faculty Fellow, Virginia Tech Universal Design for Learning Fellow, and College of Engineering Dean’s Fellow (2024-25). Yi’s research spans very large-scale integrated circuits and systems, neuromorphic and brain-inspired computing, artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, and machine learning for communications and cybersecurity. She has published over 200 peer-reviewed papers and received multiple best-paper awards and major research honors, including an NSF CAREER Award, with research supported by agencies like the NSF, DoD, AFRL, and major industry partners.
