About

Suresh Venkatasubramanian is a Professor of Computer Science and Data Science at Brown University, where he serves as the Director of the Center for Technological Responsibility, Reimagination, and Redesign (CNTR). A leading international voice in algorithmic fairness and the ethics of AI, his work focuses on the intersection of computer science and social justice, developing mathematical frameworks to detect and mitigate bias in automated decision-making systems. Beyond his foundational research in computational geometry and data mining, he has had a profound impact on national policy, having served as a Senior Advisor in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP). During his tenure, he was a primary co-author of the Blueprint for an AI Bill of Rights, a landmark document designed to protect civil rights in the age of automation. A recipient of the NSF CAREER Award and a member of the Board of Directors for the ACLU, he is dedicated to ensuring that as technology evolves, it does so with transparency, accountability, and equity at its core.
