Shan Suthaharan, Ph.D., is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He joined UNCG in 2001 and has served in leadership roles including Director of Undergraduate Studies and Graduate Program Director. His research focuses on big data analytics, machine learning, data privacy, and Bayesian optimization methods for smart analytics, and he has published extensively in international journals and conferences. Dr. Suthaharan is also the author of a well-reviewed textbook on big data and machine learning and has served as an elected IEEE section chair and Distinguished Speaker of the ACM.
