About

Dr Sayma Shammi is currently working as a Lecturer in Information Technology at Murdoch University, Australia. Prior to this role, she served as a Research Fellow in the GRDC-funded "Changing the Game" project at University of Southern Queensland, where she contributed to industry-led and government-supported digital agriculture initiatives. She is the recipient of several prestigious awards, including the ACS WA 1962 Medal for the most outstanding completed Doctoral research (PhD) in Western Australia in the field of Information Technology and Computer Science (2023–2024), and the Vice-Chancellor’s Gold Medal (2018) from North South University, Bangladesh, for achieving the highest academic standing in the cohort. Her research interests include artificial intelligence, machine learning, image processing, spatial and temporal data analysis and digital agriculture. She is passionate about using data-driven technologies to solve real-world challenges and now brings that knowledge into the classroom to equip students with practical and future-focused IT skills.
