Dr. Rehan Akbar has over 22 years of experience in teaching and research in Computer Science and Information Systems. Throughout his career, he has been working at academic, research, and management positions at various levels. He is an award-winning academician having profound expertise in outcome-based education, and curriculum and program design & development. He has expertise in teaching various courses in the domains of Computer Science and Information Systems mainly including Software Engineering, Human Computer Interaction, Software Project Management, Cybersecurity, Database Systems, and E-Commerce. He is a reputed research scholar working on real-world problems in the areas of Software Engineering, and Cybersecurity. Dr. Rehan received his PhD in Information Technology from Department of Computer and Information Sciences, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia in 2013, MS Computer Science from GC University Lahore, Pakistan in 2008, MSc Computer Science and BSc (Hons.) from University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, Pakistan in 2001 and 1998 consecutively. Besides, he has received various academic, research, management, and professional trainings as part of his continuous professional development. He is a certified instructor for TRIZ Level 1 inventive problem solving, and certified practitioner for TRIZ Level 2 & 3. His research papers have been published in peer-reviewed leading journals, conference proceedings, and book chapters. His articles have been published in newspaper and scientific journals. He has secured national and international research grants from various private and public bodies, ministry, and industry. He has been involved in research commercialization and consultation with industry providing solutions to their problems. He is associated with various peer-reviewed journals, and conferences as guest editor, reviewer, advisory board member, and committee member. He has been co-founder and team lead of ‘Software Engineering and Knowledge Management’, and ‘Software, Systems, and Humans’ research groups. Before joining FIU, Dr. Rehan was working as Associate Professor in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia. He also served as Associate Professor and Head of Department in the Department of Information Systems, Faculty of Information & Communication Technology, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malysia for about 10 years. Moreover, he has been working in the software industry as Project Manager of software projects. Dr. Rehan is a Senior Member of IEEE (SMIEEE), Member of Association for Information Systems (AIS), and Professional Technologist with Malaysian Board of Technologists (MBOT), Malaysia.
