About
Dr. Rayadurgam Srikant is the Fredric G. and Elizabeth H. Nearing Endowed Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Co-Director of the CSL Center for Networked Systems at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). A leading authority in Communication Networks and Applied Probability, his research focuses on the design and mathematical analysis of large-scale stochastic systems. Dr. Srikant’s work is foundational to modern networking, particularly in the areas of congestion control, resource allocation, and Performance Evaluation of the Internet and wireless systems. More recently, he has made significant contributions to the theoretical foundations of Machine Learning, specifically in the analysis of reinforcement learning algorithms and the convergence properties of neural networks. A recipient of the IEEE Koji Kobayashi Computers and Communications Award and the INFOCOM Achievement Award, he is also well known for his seminal textbook, The Mathematics of Internet Congestion Control.
