Md Belayat Hossain
About
Dr. Hossain is a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Computer Science in the School of Computing at Southern Illinois University since Aug. 2024. Prior to this role, he served as an Adjunct Faculty of Computer and Information System at the Robert Morris University, Pittsburgh, PA from 2023 - 2024. During 2020-2024, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Pittsburgh, PA under the mentorship of Drs. Juhun Lee, and Robert Nishikawa. Previously, he was a JSPS Fellow and visiting researcher at the University of Hyogo, Japan from 2018-2020. He received his Ph.D. in Electronics and Computer Science in 2018 from the University of Hyogo, where he was advised by Dr Syoji Kobashi. He was a recipient of multiple awards including AAPM research grant award for 2022-2023, JSPS grant-in-aid for 2018-2020. His research interests include Deep Learning, Generative AI, Multi-modal AI, Large Language Model (LLMs), Vision-Language Models (VLMs), Computer Vision. AI in Medicine, and Medical Image Processing. He is a Member of IEEE, SPIE, ACS and served as an Associate Editor for IEEE SMC conference series.
