Martina Zitterbart

Martina Zitterbart is a professor of computer science at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (formerly the University of Karlsruhe, TH). From 1987 to 1995, she was a research assistant in Karlsruhe, where she received her doctorate in 1990. In 1991 and 1992, she was a visiting scholar at the IBM TJ Watson Research Center in Yorktown-Height, NY. She has also held visiting professorships at the University of Magdeburg and the University of Mannheim, and was a professor at the Technical University of Braunschweig (1995 to 2001). Her professional interests focus primarily on multimedia communication systems, mobile and ubiquitous communication, ambient technologies, and wireless sensor networks. She is a member of the IEEE, the ACM, and the German Informatics Society (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Informatik). In 2002, Martina Zitterbart was awarded the Alcatel SEL Research Prize for Technical Communication. In 2003, she served as General Co-Chair of the ACM SIGCOMM conference, which was held in Karlsruhe.
