About

Dr. Hasan Iqbal is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Wyoming, where he specializes in the theoretical foundations of quantum information theory and quantum cryptography. His research is primarily focused on enhancing the performance and security of quantum communication protocols through the use of high-dimensional quantum states. Dr. Iqbal is particularly noted for his work on semi-quantum cryptography, a field he has advanced by developing protocols that allow users with limited quantum capabilities to achieve secure communication. His expertise encompasses the study of quantum non-local phenomena, including entanglement and discord in higher dimensions, which are critical for the development of future quantum networks. Having joined the Wyoming faculty in August 2024 after earning his Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut under the mentorship of Dr. Walter O. Krawec, he now leads research into robust security proofs for Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) and the integration of quantum-resistant technologies into modern digital infrastructure.
