Hang Jiang
About
Hang Jiang is an assistant professor in the Khoury College of Computer Sciences and the D’Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University, based in Boston. Jiang’s work takes an interdisciplinary approach to a core question: How can AI systems foster a healthy, connected, pluralistic society? By weaving computational methods from machine learning and natural language processing together with perspectives from the social, cognitive, and design sciences, he explores how AI agents interact with individuals and groups, and how those interactions shape people’s beliefs and behaviors. Jiang has always been interested in the ways language can sow division or build understanding, and he hopes his work will contribute to the design of human-scale AI systems that reduce polarization and connect communities.
