Dr. Frederick “Rick” Sheldon is a Professor of Computer Science in the College of Engineering. He earned his Ph.D. and M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Arlington (’96 and ’88, respectively), and dual B.S. degrees in Computer Science and Microbiology from the University of Minnesota (’83). He is a Senior Member of ACM, IEEE, and ASEE, and — humorously noted — a “Former Astronaut (through grade 6).”
Dr. Sheldon’s areas of expertise include computer science fundamentals, cybersecurity and cybernomics, digital forensics, cyberwarfare, and data analytics for critical infrastructure and ransomware resilience. His work spans teaching, research, and applied investigations in securing systems and understanding the economics and adversarial
