Dale Schoenefeld

Dale Schoenefeld, Ph.D., is professor of computer science and mathematics who currently teaches a broad range of courses in both disciplines. He initially came to The University of Tulsa to provide technology support for curriculum development and teaching in mathematics. Subsequently he expanded his expertise in computer science topics; he built the first student desktop computer laboratory on campus; was the principal architect of the university backbone data network in a fashion consistent with the early Internet activities promoted by the National Science Foundation; he served for more than a decade as the university vice president for information services and chief technology officer with responsibilities for academic and administrative computing, network services, and the university library. His primary research efforts are in the area of combinatorial optimization and algorithm analysis. He is the principal architect of a new data science major and teaches courses to support initial curriculum offerings while continuing to teach a broad range of support courses in discrete and continuous, applied and theoretical mathematics, programming languages, and algorithms.
