About

Ari Schlesinger is leading expert on safe and responsible technology, specializing in human-centered computing and AI. She is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the University of Georgia (UGA) and the director of the Socially Responsible Tech Lab. Ari has a PhD from the Georgia Institute of Technology in the School of Interactive Computing. Her research focuses on socially responsible computing, with applications in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Computer Science (CS). Ari's research has been published in premier venues like the ACM CHI Conference—including a best paper award given to the top 1% of submissions. Her work has garnered attention from Motherboard, Oxford Insights Research Group, and the National Science Foundation. Ari has worked with folks from Microsoft Research, Harvey Mudd College, City University of London, Georgia Tech, USC, University of Colorado Boulder, Pomona College, the CODE documentary, and the School for Poetic Computing. Ari also has training in conflict resolution and evidence-based teaching strategies. She is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and serves on the ACM US Technology Policy Committee. Previously, she worked with the Human Experience & Design Group at Microsoft Research and on an National Science Foundation grant at Harvey Mudd as the Research Project Manager for csteachingtips.org. She holds a BA in Technology and Social Change from Pitzer College.
