I am a Professor of Computer Science and Biology at Duke University. I previously directed the Graduate Program in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, and I am a member of the Center for Advanced Genomic Technologies and the Center for Quantitative Biodesign. I served for many years as the faculty director of the Office of University Scholars and Fellows. I have been at Duke since September 2001, when I received my Ph.D. from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology under the supervision of David Gifford, Tommi Jaakkola, and Rick Young
